ADHD
What is ADHD?
Signs and symptoms ADHD symptoms appear over many months, and include: * Impulsivity: A child who acts recklessly without thinking beforehand * Hyperactivity (overactivity): A child who is unable to sit in one place, walks, runs, or climbs while others are sitting, talking at the same time with others. * Lack of attention: A child who "dreams" or seems to be in another world, that what is happening around him distracts him. How are ADHD diagnosed? If there is a suspicion of attention and concentration problems, a diagnosis should be obtained from a specialist who has been trained in the field of attention and concentration problems. Such specialists come from the fields of child psychiatry, psychology, developmental pediatrics, behavioral neurology, and clinical social work. After ruling out other reasons for the child's behavior, the specialist examines his medical file and his school file, and talks to his teachers and parents. Teachers and parents complete a Heart Rate Behavior Questionnaire regarding the child. The diagnosis is given only after all the information collected has been taken into account.
