Bipolar Disorder (Mania - Depression)

What is bipolar disorder?

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depression, is a serious illness that causes mood swings and fluctuations in energy level and ability to function. It is different from those routine ups and downs that every normal person experiences, and its symptoms are severe. Signs and Symptoms Bipolar disorder causes dramatic mood swings, from overly uplifting feelings to a low, nervous and / or sad mood, desperate and hopeless and returns, often with interruptions of normal mood between them. Acute fluctuations in energy level and behavior appear along with mood swings. The periods of ups and downs are called episodes of mania and depression, respectively.

Treatment

It is possible to stabilize the mood swings of most sufferers of bipolar disorder and improve their condition significantly, as well as reduce the severity of the accompanying symptoms over time, with the help of proper treatment. The approach that combines pharmacotherapy and psychosocial therapy is optimal for dealing with the disorder over time.
